The Capital Chemist College Scholarship is for ACT public school students who will be in their final year of secondary education in 2026.
Each of the ACT's nine secondary colleges and two specialist schools will be awarded up to three scholarships, including an Academic Excellence Scholarship, a Citizenship Scholarship and a Capital Chemist Scholarship to be offered to a student with a particular need.
Each scholar will receive $1,000 to be used for their direct educational benefit during their final year of schooling. Funds are to be administered by the student’s School Principal, on the scholar’s behalf.
The scholarship is to cover educational expenses such as:
- Laptop, iPad or similar device
- Subject or study-related software
- Stationery and books
- Uniforms and equipment
- Excursions and camps
- Face-to-face or online tutoring
If a student leaves public school before the end of Year 12, the scholarship will lapse. Any unspent monies at the end of the scholarship period must be refunded to the Public Education Foundation (PEF).

Basic Eligibility
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Currently enrolled in Year 11 (2025)
- Attending one of the following ACT secondary colleges:
- Canberra College
- Dickson College
- Erindale College
- Gungahlin College
- Hawker College
- Lake Tuggeranong College
- University of Canberra Senior Secondary College
- Melba Copland Secondary College
- Narrabundah College
- The Woden School
- Black Mountain School
Selection Criteria
- Good academic progress
- A positive attitude towards school
- Articulates an intention to complete their secondary studies and continue on to tertiary or vocational education (workplace training)
- Participates in school life, community and extra-curricular activities
Applicants may apply for one of the following scholarships:
- Academic Excellence Scholarship
- Demonstrates an outstanding record of achievement in schooling
- Has shown particular improvement or commitment to their studies
- Citizenship Scholarship
- The student demonstrates a strong record of participation in community activities at school or in the community
- Capital Chemist Scholarship
- The student demonstrates potential or ability in a particular area or skill, which the school supports or wants to foster

- Which of the three scholarship categories you are applying for
- A statement outlining why you are a suitable candidate for this scholarship and how you meet each of the selection criteria. (Maximum 400 words)
- A brief outline of your plans after you have completed your Year 12 studies (maximum 150 words)
- Tell us what you would like to be doing/where you see yourself in 10 years (maximum 150 words)
- A copy of all pages of your most recent school report ready to upload
- Endorsement and brief citation from the Principal (the nominator must initiate a request via the online application to the Principal. This will result in an email being sent to the Principal requesting them to endorse the nomination and provide a short citation regarding the nominee). This endorsement must be completed by your Principal before the application can be submitted.
Note for Principals: The citation requested is for use at the Capital Chemist Awards event, during the student award presentation.

Once you have finalised your application and all elements are complete you can submit it for review.
Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm on Friday, 19 September 2025.
